Basti is the introduction of herbal decoctions and medicated oils into the colon through the rectum. While it directly affects the colon, it is not a localized or symptomatic treatment. It is a highly specialized procedure intended to achieve a therapeutic goal and must be performed in a hospital setting by an expert.
There is no certain number of days that have been decided for Basti rather it depends on the condition of the patients. Normally, a basti should be done in 8, 16 or 30 days based on the condition.
Although Basti therapy is generally safe when administered by a trained practitioner, there can be some mild side effects, including: Mild abdominal discomfort. Temporary fatigue or drowsiness. But as it is done under the supervision of expert people, these effects are minimsed at I-AIM
